Choose Your Battles

I want to talk to you first (because the others who’ve already let go will just laugh it off). You’re trying to do everything perfectly for your little treasure.

That’s normal! We want the best for our little bundles of joy that took us nine months to create.

First off, you’ll find it harder and harder to control everything your little sweetheart does, eats, drinks, or touches. BUT one day, you’ll be exhausted and you’ll admit defeat. That’s exactly the day you’ll start picking your battles, sweetie. Yes, yes—you’ll pick your battles the day you send your 2-year-old to daycare in his pajama top. Because yes, he decided that morning that he didn’t want to take it off. So, mom, pick your battles and send your little one to daycare in a pajama top!

And that’s where it all starts. Because deep down… it’s not that big of a deal! Once you let it go, it’s no longer a constant headache. Sometimes, letting go doesn’t make you a bad mom. Your child is expressing himself—it’s normal. You should be proud that he has his own personality and the strength to express himself.

My dear moms, Sunday morning, I put ketchup in my 2-year-old’s bowl of oatmeal so he’d eat the whole thing without complaining! (I know, it’s gross, but he’s the one who asked for it and ate it!!)

Don’t drive yourself crazy trying to control everything—just admire the masterpiece!!
