The Roller Coaster Ride of a New Mom!

Being a mom is like a roller coaster: there are wonderful highs filled with love and smiles, and there are lows—those dips that bring anger and tears. Often, what you have to do is climb back up as quickly as possible, but why? For our children.

You’re in a low point right now, and you’ve taken a step toward the top by reaching out for help. The fact that you called me—your best friend—touches me and helps me understand life and its darker sides. Not only does this gesture comfort me, but it also makes me feel less alone—two moms are stronger than anything.

Staying optimistic is hard when you’re a mom. At every stage of our children’s lives, there will be obstacles—and that’s without even considering us, the mothers. Our emotions, our problems—no one hears them. We’re always expected to be stronger than anything—a kind of Superwoman. You realized early on that this isn’t the case; we’re just like everyone else—or almost everyone, since some women always think they’re better than others and refuse to face reality.

Speaking from my own experience as a mother, I understand you; reaching the point where you tell yourself, “I can’t take it anymore,” and owning that feeling—it’s hard. Especially when you feel like you’re fighting this battle alone—the whole routine really starts to lose its charm. It’s as if you’re sitting there all by yourself, surrounded, with your hair a mess, and forced to keep going.

If I’m getting through this without too many bumps in the road, without staying stuck in a slump for too long, it’s thanks to my boyfriend. Despite the arguments, love endures and helps us get back on our feet, one day. Will it ever end? I don’t know—I can’t promise anything, because neither you nor I have control over that. You’re a great woman, a truly wonderful mother—never doubt that. You’ll get through this ride just fine. I’m here; you can count on me, because friends are just as precious as being the great mom that you are... Motherhood goes hand in hand with friendship, and that’s no coincidence.

Kisses, my friend—give your little ones a kiss from me.
