Murphy’s Law: “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.”
We all know this saying—the one about how toast always lands butter-side down, among other things. Well, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but chances are, just like me, it’s been following you around ever since you became a mom…
Baby is 2 months old. For the first time since he was born, he’s just managed to sleep for 7 straight hours. You wake up feeling rested and start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. In this burst of enthusiasm and positivity, you decide to share your joy on your Facebook page by gushing about your little one. You don’t know it yet, but the next night will turn out to be your worst night EVER.
You’re heading out on a family getaway. You’ve thought of everything. You made a list of everything you needed to bring. You checked it, crossed things off, and double-checked it. But don’t pat yourself on the back just yet for your organizational skills. Thirty kilometers from home, you’ll realize you’ve still managed to forget something…
This morning, you had a hard time getting out of bed. You won’t be late for work, but you’ve got to get moving! The kids, for once, are cooperating well with the morning routine. They’re getting dressed without complaining and aren’t fussing over breakfast (a miracle!). Just as you’re starting to think you’re going to be “on time,” you catch that familiar little whiff. The one that reminds you your youngest has left you a “gift.” And of course, since you’re short on time, it didn’t stay confined to the size of his diaper (!!)
Tonight, you and your partner are in an efficient mood. Back home, he decides to give the kids a bath while you make dinner. The rest of the evening looks like it’ll be peaceful—until your little troublemaker decides to make a hat out of her bowl of spaghetti and you have to start all over again! 😛
From now on, these little mishaps are part of our lives. They’re the result of our overloaded brains or simply a matter of chance. Now, all that’s left is to prepare for the worst—and above all, learn to laugh it off!
