Summer 2020 is well behind us. Fall is well underway, and the leaves have already lost their magnificent colors. They’re falling as November rolls by and winter sets in. And how are you holding up during this difficult month of the year? How are you coping with this strange year and this pandemic that seems to have no end in sight?
November is well known for being a sometimes difficult transition into winter. It’s dark and often cold. Some people sink into despair. Many break down and are overcome by depression. In 2020, it’s normal to wonder how we’ll get through the coming months—but especially winter. What will the long winter weeks be like? I don’t think we could be more cooped up than we already are.
How are you feeling about the coming months? What’s your current state of mind? Do you feel ready to face the coming weeks? Or are you starting to feel the weight of the past year on your shoulders? We have to admit, there has been—and still is—a kind of underlying tension.
Faced with all this, how can we stay on course and manage our emotions? We have to avoid letting the gloom get the better of us. We mustn’t give in to the weight of the darkness that’s already setting in by the afternoon and that fades too slowly in the morning. You need to find what gives you energy and pushes you forward. What’s your thing? Is it working out or yoga? Is it delicious smoothies with colorful fruits in the morning along with your coffee? Or maybe a short walk during your lunch break if the cold doesn’t scare you!
Despite everything going on around us, we need to create little joys and sweet moments for ourselves. We need to keep making plans. Even with all these surprises and challenges, 2020 may well have helped us discover new things. Some people planted a vegetable garden for the first time. So find what works for you to bring joy into your life—and have fun!
