Turn on your lights and your Christmas tree

Let’s face it, 2020 hasn’t been a good year. With the virus, nothing has been easy. Some have lost their jobs, and others have had their hours cut back significantly. Worse still, many of you have lost loved ones. What has also taken us all by surprise is the lack of normalcy. An absence that’s now lasted for months. We’ve been shaken and taken by surprise. Our routines have been turned upside down, and it’s not over yet.

To spread a little joy and thumb our noses at the gloom that’s setting in, let’s bring out our string lights, our wreath, and especially our Christmas tree. This year, let’s get a head start on the Christmas spirit and sprinkle a little joy a little sooner than usual. We don’t yet know how the holidays will unfold, but nothing can stop us from decorating our homes. Maybe we’ll be able to see our parents, siblings, and friends… or maybe not. We’ll see when the time comes.

In the meantime, let’s take the time to spread some joy and bring that Christmas magic a few weeks early. Let’s take the time to decorate the house and enhance our decorations bit by bit. This year, let’s not rush to get the house ready and wrap the gifts. Let’s take the time to make the fun last.

Maybe some of you used to buy desserts at the bakery in previous years, but this year, take the time to bake your own cookies and make your own Yule log. It’s a little challenge that will undoubtedly bring joy, along with the wonderful smell of baking in the house. What’s also magical is that these little treats can be frozen… It keeps the magic going!

Plus, why not take this opportunity to write holiday cards to our loved ones? Let’s take the time to choose a special card for each person or family. They can then use these cards to add a touch of festivity to their decor. It’ll be a nice gesture, especially for those we haven’t seen in a few months. Let’s make the most of these weeks at home to bring joy to our daily lives and turn on our lights and Christmas tree as soon as darkness sets in!
