My handsome big boy, as I write this, there are only two weeks left until your fifth birthday.
One month minus one day after my own son turned five. It’s amazing to think that you two were born so close together. It’s cool in many ways, but in others, it’s not so great.
I still remember the moment your parents asked me to be your godmother. It was a definite “yes,” without hesitation. I never thought I’d hold that title for anyone. Your mom and I were pregnant at almost the same time, which made it a little hard for me to give you my full attention. I even missed your baby shower because I’d given birth to my son two days earlier.
Time flies so fast, my little wolf. I try as much as possible to spend time with you, but it’s never as much as I’d like. You and my son are friends, and God only knows how much he loves you! It’s beautiful to see the two of you together, but deep down, I always have a little regret that I don’t have the time to give you my full attention. To you and you alone. I’m never as present as I’d like to be. And we don’t have the closeness I’d have wished for. However, time goes by, and it will no doubt be easier to go on outings and do activities with you—and for us to enjoy them to the fullest—once you’re a little older.
I hope we’ll have lots of wonderful moments together, even though we’ve already had a few!
I don’t know when these words will be read, but I hope to be able to do more for the two of us.
Godmother loves you so much, my little wolf xxx
