Saying goodbye to someone we love is a difficult ordeal.
This morning at 10:15 a.m., I had to let my grandmother go—that strong, courageous woman.
Even though we tell ourselves that she made a decision and we have to respect it, it’s so hard...
She was so beautiful and serene. She sang songs for us. She laughed despite our tears. She was brave and strong until her very last breath.
All week long, I tried to prepare myself for this moment. I felt empty, as if there were nothing left inside me. I wanted so badly to be in denial ever since she was diagnosed…
And then, today, I don’t feel empty anymore. I can feel that little spark, that little light inside me. I know it’s her. I know she’ll be with me through every challenge that comes my way. From now on, I’ll never be alone again.
Grandma, I hope you’re doing well where you are and that you’re watching over us with pride. You built an entire empire with Grandpa. And don’t worry—that empire will last forever.
I love you...
