Ode to You, Migraine.

This morning, I woke up and you were already making your presence known. My heavy eyelids were drooping over my eyes. The pressure from my eyebrows made them give way. The smell of eggs and bacon cooking made my head spin and made me want to throw up last night’s dinner.

Unable to get up to relieve that urgent urge, all I could do was fall back asleep. The slightest noise or light would wake me up. And then I heard them—those cries I couldn’t soothe. My little one was having a meltdown, and I was paralyzed in bed because of you! Luckily, Dad was there to help me.

Because of your presence, I was unable to take care of the person who matters most to me—my daughter. Her cries only made the feeling of my skull cracking worse.

Despite that, I managed to fall back asleep—only to have nightmares. Every time you’re around, I have horrible dreams. You ruin everything.

After more than 24 hours of sleep, I woke up—without you—and rushed to hold my little beauty in my arms.

Ah, I feel so much better when you’re not around, Migraine.
