Thank you to everyone who, without giving in to panic, is taking things seriously and has chosen not to bury their heads in the sand.
Thank you to those who have understood that, as mundane as they may be, actions like coughing into your elbow and washing your hands matter more than ever. Thank you to those who have understood that they have no right to claim that the life my 83-year-old grandfather has left to live doesn’t really count. Thank you for the drastic decisions that some of our leaders aren’t afraid to make. Thank you to the healthcare workers who would certainly like to go home to their little ones, just like us, but who remain on the front lines to help stop this mess; I tip my hat to you!
Thank you to those who know that grocery stores offer delivery and don’t make excuses to avoid quarantining when they return home. Thank you to those who stay home as much as possible and avoid non-essential shopping trips. Thank you to employers who are proactive and flexible. Thank you to all the grandparents who are supporting parents who have to go to work. Thank you to all the neighbors who are helping each other and making sure no one in the neighborhood is in need.
Thank you to those who aren’t wasting their energy and time judging others around them. Thank you to those who aren’t just thinking of themselves and aren’t stockpiling supplies endlessly.
For my children, for my grandparents, for my partner, and for myself—for all of us—THANK YOU!
It’s by taking such drastic measures and following the rules to the letter that we can hope to get our lives back to normal in the near future.
If we take things lightly and keep going out when it’s not necessary, we’ll still be in the same situation this summer. As for me, my choice is made. What about you?
