Am I looking forward to giving birth?!

You, who’re in the final stages of pregnancy—you know, the one in the home stretch, the one on the verge of bursting—well, I know you get where I’m coming from!

Okay, so here’s what we—women about to give birth—really want to say when you ask us THE question: “Are you looking forward to giving birth?”

First of all, yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes!!
Because let’s face it—at the end of pregnancy, not to mention false labor, swelling, and aches and pains everywhere—we’re not exactly at our best!

- We get very little (if any) sleep at night. Between the urge to pee and back pain (or pain all over) that come and go every 10 minutes, you’ve got a little ninja pulling off every imaginable stunt in the tiny space left in your belly.
- We have gas, and it’s getting harder and harder to hold it in... Let’s just say that with the little ninja (the same one who keeps us up at night) treating our intestines like toys, the gas is running wild.
- Maternity outfits were really cute at the beginning and in the middle of pregnancy… but by the end, you’re lucky if you can find pajamas that fit. Even then, you end up wearing your boyfriend’s T-shirt… very glamorous!

- We can’t see our feet anymore, so imagine the acrobatics we have to do just to put on our shoes—WORSE, our boots. And let’s not even think about nail polish…!
- Our skin is so stretched out by now that we don’t even think we can bend over without it all cracking! And that’s when our friends, the stretch marks, make their grand entrance!
- Our bellies are getting heavier and heavier; it’s hard to find a comfortable position no matter what…
- It’s heartburn season!
- We look so chic with our waddling gait…

And I could go on… So yes, in the final stages of pregnancy, we can’t wait to give birth. Ultimately, we’re especially eager because we’ve been creating this wonderful little being for nine months now, and we can’t wait to see their little face and hold them in our arms!
