Over a cup of coffee

My friend, sometimes I miss you. We used to be inseparable. The days we spent together to School, the weekend, or the park just weren't enough. On top of all that time together, we could spend hours on the phone. The years went by. We started working, and those days when we spent the whole day together became less frequent.

High school was over, and we started college and moved into our first apartment. The physical distance also kept us apart. Despite everything, we still found ways to talk regularly and plan dinners and outings with our girlfriends to catch up on the latest happenings in each other’s lives.

Then, adult life swept us up into this daily routine where We have to try to juggle work, activities, family, our spouse, and the kids… all while trying to find time for ourselves and for each other. Fortunately, our online conversations let us catch up on our days and share photos with each other. Our little moments together have become increasingly rare, and now we have to try to find a date by juggling our respective schedules just to grab a coffee sometime this month.

Despite everything, every time we meet, it’s as if we’d seen each other just yesterday. Our friendship hasn’t faded over the years or because of the distance. These little moments allow us to reconnect as if no time had passed. They last only a few hours, but each time, they allow us to reconnect with ourselves. We always promise each other we’ll see each other more often, and even though that often doesn’t happen, just hoping it will makes us happy, and we part ways with a light heart.

My friend, I hope we'll go for coffee again next month and that you'll still be a part of my life 20 years from now. I also hope that the moments we've shared will always be just as precious. to our eyes for both of us.
